Memphis conference explores expanding opportunities for female entrepreneurs

Great WomenAs a successful entrepreneur and founder of The Corporate Agent, Angelique Rewers believes that a key strategy for growing small businesses is by linking with larger ones.

That’s particularly the case for many women-owned small businesses, but too often female entrepreneurs don’t use their leverage as diversity suppliers to gain access to corporate contracts, Rewers contends. And she wants to change that.

“For the first time in the history of the world more women than men are starting businesses and there are great opportunities in the world of entrepreneurship, but the big companies still hold most of the cash,” Rewers said Wednesday at “When Great Women Gather, Great Things Can Happen,” a conference hosted by Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW), the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO), and Women’s Business Enterprise Council South (WBEC).

“Corporations in this country spend an estimated $8.73 trillion a year on goods and services and we want to help women and mico-business owners get into corporate America.”
