NAWBO Memphis Women’s Business Accelerator

The growth potential for women-owned businesses is apparent; however, female business owners face unique challenges which often hinder them from fully realizing that potential. Traditional business accelerators can often add to these challenges, but the NAWBO MEMPHIS ACCELERATOR PROGRAM focuses specifically on the needs of women business owners.

What does the NAWBO Accelerator Offer?


During the 6-month program, women business owners experience an intensive, growth-focused program that includes valuable workshops, seminars, networking opportunities, and ongoing coaching sessions. Each aspect of the program is carefully designed to provide you with the information and tools necessary to propel you toward your goals. A dynamic group of local and national industry leaders provide hands-on instruction, strategy, training, and expertise.


Participants in the NAWBO Memphis Accelerator Program will:

January 10th, 8:00 am – 10:30 am

Session One: Setting Your Goals and Building Your Strategy:
In your first session, experts in small business strategy will help you determine which goals are big enough, yet attainable, for your business. Once your goals are established, you can begin laying the foundation of the strategy and actions you’ll execute to reach your objectives.

January 24th, 8:30am-9:30am Optional Workshop: Government and Municipal Contracts – how to best prepare for and pursue these opportunities.

February 7th, 10:00 am – 1:00 pm

Session Two: Building Your Sales Foundation: This session will help you understand how to profoundly connect with your ideal customers and build a sales program that is proactive, measurable, and repeatable. Since revenue drives cash flow—which in turn supports investments, hiring, and growth—the selling module will be the focal point of our discussion.**Member/Open Luncheon: Sales Strategy as a Competitive Advantage – Featured Speaker- Shawn Karol Sandy 11:30 am-1:00pm.

February 21st, 8:30am-9:30am Optional Workshop: Procurement: best practices and examples of how to engage and participate in bid opportunities.

March 7th, 8:00 am to 10:30 am

Session Three: Leadership and Your Executive Infrastructure: Whether you’re a one-woman show or a CEO of many, your leadership style and skills will drive the culture, growth, and success of your organization. NAWBO’s experts will help you identify how to leverage your innate leader personality, where to invest in complimentary team members, and how to build your executive team.

April 11th, 10:00 am to 1:00 pm

Session Four: Leveraging Marketing & Technology: No matter the size or stage of your business, you must leverage marketing to reach and educate your potential customers. This module breaks marketing down in to 3 critical components: your brand, PR and social media, and marketing/digital technology.NAWBO’s experts will help you understand key factors in creating or shifting your brand, expand the voice of your brand through PR and social, and determine which marketing technology provides the best platform for your business’s messages.**Member/Open Luncheon: Your Brand Strategy – 11:30am-1:00pm

May 9th, 8:00 am to 10:30 am

Session Five: Finance & Capitalization for Growth: Gaining access to capital and navigating financial decisions can be daunting and complex, but both will be essential to growing your business. This session will feature experts to help you decide how much you need to capitalize your growth, what you need to do to prepare for requesting financial investments, and what options are best suited to your position, terms, and needs for growth.

May 23rd, 8:30am-9:30am Optional Workshop: Accounting and Business Structure Best Practices

June 6th, 8:00 am to 10:30 am

Session Six: Putting It All Together (Your Strategy in Action): This session is where you test the legs of your strategy. You will present your plan for business growth and explain how executing your plan will shift your business to reach your objectives. Participants will present to the entire accelerator cohort and have the opportunity to receive suggestions, feedback, and support to execute their business plans.

June 13th, 11:30 am to 1:00 pm (open to all): NAWBO Year End Awards Luncheon: In our final installment, you will have the opportunity to highlight your business and recount the pivotal opportunities to shift your business into higher growth. Awards will also be presented to the NAWBO Accelerator participants.
